Joyce Yang, whom one critic called “the most gifted young pianist of her generation,” returns to the Salida Aspen Concert series for the fourth consecutive year in the 2010 season. Other top-tier professional musicians from the Aspen Music Festival and School will perform in Salida Concert’s 34th season. All but one of the six concerts will be at John Held Auditorium, Salida High School, 10th and D Streets. The concert Saturday, July 31 will be at Valley Fellowship Church, 608 S. San Juan Street, Buena Vista.
July 10, Saturday, the season begins with Argentine pianist Ingrid Fliter, www.IngridFliter.com, and Russian clarinetist Anton Dressler, www.AntonDressler.com . Fliter played Beethoven and Chopin works in 2007. She has soloed with such orchestras as the Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco, St. Louis and Dallas symphonies. Dressler has appeared as a soloist throughout Europe.

July 19, Monday, brings the Conundrum Wind Quintet, which played in Salida for the first time last year. This remarkable aggregation is made up of Aspen faculty members who occupy first chairs in bassoon, clarinet, flute, oboe and horn at, respectively, Norway’s Bergen Philharmonic, the Detroit Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and Montreal Symphony.

July 27, Tuesday. Joyce Yang, www.pianistJoyceYang.com has soloed with the New York Philharmonic more than ten times. She has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, and Houston Symphony. She will play solo piano and join with violinist David Halen, concertmaster of the St. Louis Symphony, and cellist Andrew Shulman for the rest of the program.

This quintet, which specializes in Renaissance and modern music, will be joined by the Oracle Brass Quintet. The concert is at Buena Vista's Valley Fellowship Church.

Aug. 14, Saturday, the audience will get a treat they haven’t had since 1981: a solo guitarist. He will be joined by the Tesla Quartet of Boulder, CO.
