Acclaimed bassist and composer Edgar Meyer has built a singular career that bridges classical, bluegrass, and contemporary music, earning recognition as one of the most influential musicians of his generation. Praised by The New Yorker as “the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively un-chronicled history of his instrument,” he is celebrated for his extraordinary artistry as both a performer and composer and was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 2002. Meyer has collaborated with renowned artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Chris Thile, Béla Fleck, and Zakir Hussain, while his recordings and compositions have earned multiple Grammy Awards and widespread acclaim. The recipient of both the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Avery Fisher Prize, Meyer currently serves as Visiting Professor of Double Bass at the Curtis Institute of Music.

She has performed at leading venues and festivals across the United States, collaborated with many of today’s most distinguished musicians, and appeared with organizations including the Curtis Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, Bravo! Vail, and Spoleto Festival USA. Amy serves as Director of Chamber Music and Piano Studies at the Curtis Institute of Music and is widely recognized for championing both established and contemporary repertoire through performances, recordings, premieres, and teaching.
